A Day in the life of a Les 100 Ciels Designer

A Day in the life of a Les 100 Ciels Designer

A common misconception about fashion designers is that their days are spent languidly dreaming up inspiration for collections and sketching new designs. In fact, this is only a small part of a designer’s role. Fashion designers are often working across multiple seasons, ensuring that all is well with the current Spring/ Summer collection while designing a collection for the Autumn/ Winter season and keeping an eye on trends and looking for inspiration for the Spring/ Summer season a year ahead. It’s a lot to juggle and often not the glamourous life that many envision when they think of the fashion industry. So what exactly does an average day look like for a fashion designer? This week we take you behind the scenes to experience a typical day in the life of Les 100 Ciels designer, Dizar Angel. 9am: Dizar starts her day reviewing fabric and yarn swatches that have arrived from our factory. She needs to give feedback today to confirm her designs can be made into samples using her chosen qualities. 11am: Meets with the marketing team to give suggestions and feedback on a Summer photoshoot planned for the end of February. 12:30pm: Lunch break! Dizar makes a sandwich ...

Les 100 Ciels X Sally Lane Jewellery

Les 100 Ciels X Sally Lane Jewellery

This season we are proud to announce our new collaboration with Sally Lane Jewellery Founded in 2015, Sally Lane Jewellery has created a style of jewellery that matches the founder’s ambition, to be Strong Yet Feminine within the workplace. Sally Lane Jewellery epitomises women sharing stories with other women, to inspire them to take an honest look at their life and make changes to be happier and healthier. It is about embracing all her elements, without needing to conform to notions that to succeed one must emulate stereotypical masculine qualities. The designs are Strong and also Feminine; bold but understated; wearing Sally Lane Jewellery empowers the wearer to do whatever they set out to achieve and reminds women of their own inner strength.   The triangle is the centrepiece for Sally Lane Jewellery because it so perfectly expresses strength and elegance in its form. It breaks the mould from the traditional circle which is so widely used in jewellery and flaunts daring and bravery with its beautiful but pointed angles. This is jewellery for women who are in control of their own destiny. The jewellery uses Sterling Silver and 18k Gold Plating, to create a unique, well crafted range. Every piece ...

The Barbican Centre Photoshoot

The Barbican Centre Photoshoot

When Nature Encounters Modernism We are very excited to share some behind the scenes from our early summer 19 photoshoot. The theme was Nature and Modernism – contemporary shapes, elegance, natural materials and simplicity that inspire us to create.   The Location For our shoot, we chose The Barbican Estate- a residential estate that was built between the 1960s and the 1980s within the City of London in Central London, an area once devastated by World War II bombings. The complex is one of the best examples of British Brutalist architecture, described by Queen Elizabeth as “one of the modern wonders of the world”. With its heavy concrete surfaces, elevated gardens, idyllic lakes and striking towers, The Barbican Estate offers a new, unique vision. It offers a new dimension to nature in  spaces where it seems to have no place. However nature manages to grow in the most unexpected places – finding a path through cement as if recovering its own habitat. The Model Our aim was to keep the model’s mood and look very natural. We cast the lovely Marta Jacquier for the shoot and she had a wonderful feel on camera; relaxed, fresh and real. Featuring our favourite styles ...

Les 100 Ciels X M2M

Les 100 Ciels X M2M

This season we are proud to support Mothers to Mothers (m2m), an International non-profit organization focusing on bolstering African healthcare systems, while delivering empowerment opportunities for women. From their launch in Cape Town, South Africa in 2001, m2m have developed to address the causes and effects of HIV, delivering benefits at almost all stages of life.  m2m employ, train and help to empower HIV-positive women as community health workers. These “Mentor Mothers” work in local communities, supporting understaffed health facilities to ensure that women and their families get the health advice and medication they need and are supported on their treatment journey. In support of their work, we at Les 100 Ciels have committed to donate the profits of the sales of our Kasia 100% Cashmere jumper to the m2m cause. As part of this commitment, we organised a workshop in collaboration with The Yard Café in London, inviting the members of the Mama Club and our customers, to join together to take part in an embroidery class and awareness raising talk. The aim of this event was to support a good cause and build awareness of m2m amongst our customers and the general public.  With the help of a sewing ...
