Summer Dishes

When the weather is hot and humidity soars, eating can sometimes feel like a chore, especially when your recipe repertoire is full of dishes that leave you feeling hotter than your were! At this point, it’s good to have a little recipe refresher and seek out some inspiration from some of the best summer food friendly meals around. Here are a few of our favourites to get you inspired!   Watermelon and Feta Salad One of our all time favourite foods for a starter is watermelon and feta salad. Slovenia If you’re not looking to travel very far, Slovenia with a flying time of 3 hours and 15 minutes is a charming getaway for a summer holiday. Flights can be found cheaply and the country is still on the cusp of being discovered by tourists so it feels like a secret getaway. The capital city Llubjana invites visitors with its history, cafes and modern architecture and when the temperature soars in summer, there is nothing quite like a cooling dip in Lake Bled in the Julian Alps. Greek Islands Greece has no shortage of beautiful islands to discover. Some islands can only be reached by ferry which has a certain appeal for the traveller seeking a bit of adventure. Lefkada is one of these, well known for its beautiful turquoise waters, rising against backdrops of stunning white cliffs. It is close to the much larger islands of Kefalonia and Corfu both of which also offer stunning scenery, delicious Greek food and a glimpse into Mediterranean culture.   London One of the best times to visit London is in the summer. Style icons through the decades

Style icons through the decades

Over the years, there have been a few key female figures who have firmly held the title- style icon. These women were true trailblazers in fashion during their times, setting trends and creating movements. The true marker of a style icon is their lasting inspiration to women of all ages and periods. We have selected a few of our favourite style icons over the decades. Katherine Hepburn 1930s An actress who shunned the press in favour of staying out of the spotlight, Katherine Hepburn was the original wearer of androgynous clothing. While her peers wore sequins, curve hugging clothing, Hepburn chose wide leg trousers and loose, crisp shirts. Her style was one of comfort and practicality and fashion houses followed her embrace of traditional menswear with designs for the modern woman. Her style is still referenced year on year on fashion catwalks around the world. Ava Gardner 1940s An actress renowned for her beauty, Ava Gardner lit up television screens effortlessly. She was famous for making the neckerchief popular as well as the belted waist for a cinched in look. Her style was all about the glamour of Hollywood and her dresses and love of blue hues were immortalised in fashion history. ...

Style is such a personal thing. It doesn’t always follow trends (although it can definitely be influenced by it) and it doesn’t always make sense to others. There are many parallels between how one’s sense of fashion can inform choices for interior design. Both are hugely influenced by what you are drawn to in daily life and both take on board the function, mood, colour and a balance of proportion and details. So whether you’re a home decor veteran or someone just starting on an exploration of taste and style, here are our 3 tips on how to draw from your fashion style to truly express yourself at home.   1. Think about your lifestyle and personality Do you prefer to be dressed in a comfortable and relaxed way or do you usually prefer to dress up and be more pulled together? Here are our tips for a minimalist packing style to travel with no fuss ever again! 1. Versatility is key Our number one tip for travelling is to choose clothing that can be mixed and matched easily. Neutral colours tend to be best for this category, for example a white linen tshirt like this one can be worn with just about everything. You can choose dresses that are casual enough to wear during the day  but can also easily be worn at night with heels and accessories. A sarong is another example of a versatile item that can double as a scarf/ a blanket and even an outfit if its large enough! By choosing clothing by their versatility, you can significantly reduce the number of items you take with you. 2. Planning is your friend Prepare for your trip by taking some time to think about your holiday. How many days will you be going for? What kind of activities will you be doing? What is the ...
