Get to know the team…Alaksha

St Christopher’s Place store supervisor, Alaksha, gives us a run down on her key wardobe pieces and what she spends her time doing when she’s not in store…

What are your staple wardrobe items?

Alaksha: Difficult question, as I absolutely love clothes, as girls do. I would have to say my skinny jeans, which are so easy to wear with anything, and most definitely a little black dress, which again can be worn for any occasion throughout the year. Be casual, or get jazzed up, these two pieces will always work.

What song do you love right now?

Alaksha: Being a dancer I love all music, old or new. At the moment I would have to say Beyonce’s new album has reached to my favourites. Her amazing style and sassy vocals are so powerful that you have to love her songs. The best right now.

What is your favourite piece from FW13?

Alaksha: I have a few favourites from Les 100 Ciels, it’s all so warm, cosy and extremely versatile. I will pick the Unicres Jumper. I love the colour and the fine detailing on the cuffs which makes it unique. It is so comfortable, and the cashmere feels amazing.

Where’s your favourite spot or place to eat in London?

Alaksha: London definitely has so much choice, and I love to eat.  Being Indian, and away from home I do miss a good spiced meal, so Spice Rack in Stanmore is a must for those homesick days.  Other than that I love dining at Busaba, Byrons, Asia de Cuba, and any DESERT place in town, as I have such a sweet tooth.

Where is your favourite place in the world?

Alaksha: I have been quite fortunate to travel many places around the world with family and friends, and I would have to say again I cannot just chose one place.  Being from Zimbabwe, I absolutely have to say it is one of my favourites: the sun, space, relaxed nature, and of course the beauty of wildlife which only in Africa you can get. I went to Rome a few years back, and loved the simplicity of the locals, the history, fashion and the food. It’s absolutely beautiful.

What are you most excited about wearing in Spring/ Summer?

Alaksha: I cannot wait for spring-summer to come, as I am tired of the cold and layering up.  I am really looking forward to all the pastel colours with maxi skirts and loose dresses.  I also like to accessorize with statement jewellery, which I adore.  I am also excited about all the bright and neons that will come in, as it will be a pop of vibrancy which we all want in the summer.

What do you like to do when you’re not in the Les 100 Ciels store?

Alaksha: I am such a workaholic. I work as a free lance designer, so I try to work on one off design pieces for ladies. I enjoy the fusion of East meets West, and spend a lot of time on embroidery which I do all by hand. I am also a Bollywood dancer. I do regular rehearsals, and get to perform at many events, such as Award ceremonies, Wembley Arena, The Royal Albert Hall, and many more. I love being active, so I am constantly doing several things at once.
