Stop going so fast, it’s all waiting there for you – take your time!

The lovely Julia Rebaudo, widely known as Stylonylon from her fashion and lifestyle blog and Instagram, has been inspiring us for years. Avid followers of her easy to wear fashion finds, beautiful photography and her thoughts on health and wellbeing, a new post on one of her platforms is a welcome highlight of our day. We caught up with her recently to find out how she has been handling these strange times and she shared her thoughts and advice on approaching life in lockdown and beyond.

  1. What are you go to items of clothing at the moment?

Absolutely has to be a pair of worn in jeans and a super soft knit! Paired with white something comfy on the feet, either plimsolls or Birkenstocks.

  1. Have you started any lockdown routines in the last few weeks? Which have been the most helpful?

I’ve tried to get into a new rhythm exercise wise. As I haven’t been able to keep up my daily yoga due to added extra of homeschooling I’ve swapped in a 10-minute jog or stretching routine instead.

  1. What are you most looking forward to when we eventually can go back to ‘normal life’?

A good face-to-face natter with a pal over an oat latte in a favourite cafe for sure!

  1. Resolutions are usually made at the start of the new year. But have you made any resolutions for life post Covid-19?

I think definitely to go slower and not attack everything at such a fast pace. And not worry that missing out on physically being places is a huge problem, something the lockdown life spotlight has shown up perfectly. I’ve also started journalling every morning, two A4 pages of just getting it all out and it really does make the days lighter and flow more smoothly, something I will definitely be keeping up.

  1. Any favourites that you can recommend for life at home?

I’m returning to some old favourites when it comes to authors, eg Doris Lessing and making sure we switch on the 80s channel every Saturday night and have a great living room dance to all the old hits!

  1. What’s the one thing you wish you could tell your 16 year old self?

Stop going so fast, it’s all waiting there for you – take your time!

  1. Do you have a favourite quote or saying that gets you through the tough days?

This is one of my all-times favourites, by Iris Murdoch, that always make me feel happy: “One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats.”

  1. Can you give us your no 1 piece of advice on how to make fashion effortless (as you seem to do every day!)

I think making sure that your key items ie. the jumpers and jeans are really your favourite ones in terms of style and fit. I really am quite laid back with what I wear, it definitely has to be comfy. Lately though I’ve taken to dressing up the basics with a statement pair of earrings (I love @mojajewels for this!) and that works a treat! Super simple but impactful, and they look great against a low-key outfit.
