Our most loved cookbooks

by Les 100 Ciels Team on March 30, 2021

In an age of internet searches, new recipes can be available to you at the touch of a button. However there is nothing quite like pulling down a cookbook off a shelf and flicking through the pages, admiring mouthwatering photos and getting inspiration for your meals. Here are our current favourite cookbooks that we are reaching for time and again.

Flavour: A Cookbook, Yotam Ottolenghi

Ottolenghi's cookbooks are our favourite. His latest cookbook is a homage to vegetables and contains a focus on bringing flavour to the palate in new and imaginative ways. Some of the ingredients might be less common in your kitchen (which might skew this cookbook towards the more seasoned or adventurous cooks), however the recipes are a delight to cook and truly delicious.

One Pot, Pan, Planet: A greener way to cook for you, your family and the planet, Anna Jones

There are days when cooking is the last thing you want to think about! On those days- this is the cookbook for you! Packed with recipes that are fast, easy but do not skimp on nutrition you will have all the ideas you need on helpful shortcuts to get meals on the table in no time. We were really impressed with Jones' focus on food sustainability and the ways we can make a positive impact on the planet through food consumption and waste prevention.

Minimalist Baker's Everyday Cooking: 101 Entirely Plant-Based, Mostly Gluten-Free, Easy and Delicious Recipes, Dana Shultz

Whether you are a vegetarian or you're cooking for them, everyone could use some inspiration on plant based recipes. With a detailed section at the start of how best to find plant based substitutes to meet vegan cooking requirements- (such as replacements for eggs and cheese) you will have all you need to create delicious and nutritious meals.

Nadiya Bakes, Nadiya Hussain

For those with a sweet tooth, look no further than Nadiya Hussain. Unless you've been living under a rock the last few years, you will have probably seen and loved the 'Great British Bake Off' television program where bakers compete to win the Bake off championship. Nadiya Hussain was the 2015 winner and made waves with her delectable sweet treats. Even the usual baked goodies are often given a fresh new take to bring something new and exciting to your kitchen. Give this a try and enjoy a baking treat for you and all your family and friends!

Dishoom: The first ever cookbook from the much-loved Indian restaurantby Shamil Thakrar , Kavi Thakrar, et al.

This is more than a cookbook and includes a wonderful combination of recipes and travel inspiration. Through a walking tour through Bombay, learn about the history, culture and cuisine of the city while creating authentic dishes in the comfort of home. At the moment, the lockdown means you can't visit their restaurants, so take advantage of the recipes to re-create their dishes and transport yourself to India.
