The Technical Product Developer is responsible for supporting in the process of getting seasonal collections from design concept through to production, ensuring all products meet the brand’s standards for quality, fit, craftsmanship, cost, and commercial viability. The role acts as the key link between Design and Production, with knowledge across all product categories but a strong focus on luxury knitwear.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development

• Manage the development of seasonal collections from initial concept to production handover.

• Create and maintain detailed product specifications and technical packs.

• Develop construction details, measurements, and technical standards for all products.

• Ensure design concepts are translated into commercially viable products.

• Track the development critical path and ensure key milestones are achieved.

Technical & Quality Management

• Conduct sample reviews, fit sessions, and technical evaluations.

• Provide clear comments and approvals to suppliers on prototypes, SMS, PPS and production samples.

• Establish measurement specifications, grading and tolerances.

• Maintain the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, handfeel and finish.

• Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the development process.

Supplier Management

• Build strong relationships with mills, manufacturers and suppliers.

• Communicate technical requirements clearly and manage sample development.

• Collaborate with suppliers on yarn development, stitch techniques, construction and finishing methods.

• Support negotiations around feasibility, lead times and product improvements.

Costing & Commercial Awareness

• Work with suppliers and internal teams to achieve target costs while protecting quality and design integrity.

• Understand manufacturing constraints and propose solutions that support commercial objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Design, Brand, Merchandising, Production and Operations teams.

• Support seasonal range reviews and product strategy discussions.

• Maintain accurate product data, specifications and development records.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in technical product development and garment technology.

• Strong knowledge of cashmere, knitwear construction, yarns, gauges, stitches and finishing techniques.

• Experience with woven & Jersey fabrications.

• Ability to interpret and create technical packs and specifications.

• Strong understanding of fit, measurements, grading and quality standards.

• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple products and deadlines.

• Commercial awareness with a passion for luxury craftsmanship.
